StoneToss: Episode 5

anti flagist action

Comic Name: Changing Stripes

Description: N/A

Mouseover: anti flagist action

What The Comic Is: An antifa member holds a burning American flag while accosting a nude man wearing a confederate beanie who bears the Confederate flag. The antifa member, in anger, tells the naked confederate that his flag crosses THE LINE!

What StoneToss Actually Thinks: That it's acceptable to spend the time to make sure your American flag has the appropriate number of stars and stripes and that the confederate colors has the correct amount of stars but that you can make your background a green blob under a blue blob. Be consistent you fucking handmedown anal bead.

Why It's Fucking Stupid: Dude I fucking don't even know, this is one of those StoneToss comics that just gives me pause. I mean, I get it, he's bitching about antifa burning American flags and then he's also saying that antifa hate the confederate flag. But like, what is the message other than that? That antifa hates flags? That confederates like flags? Antifa is stupid for burning a flag and then hating another one? Is this a commentary on what StoneToss posits as a lack of ideological basis on the part of antifa? Where is the confederate's other arm? Is he an actual confederate soldier or just a man at a reenactment? Is he cosplaying as a confederate? Are they at a cosplay convention??

Anyways, StoneToss, I think you accidentally put an "l" in the second word of your mouseover text, buddy.

  1. I think the point is that you're not allowed to criticize a controversial image if you yourself are using a controversial image.

Which is a garbage take, but still a take nonetheless.

  2. It's pretty obvious that he's saying that burning the American flag is "obviously" more offensive than flying the confederate flag. He's wrong, of course; being both firmly left wing (not liberal) and not American I'm very much in favour of burning the US flag, as well as my own country's and plenty of other symbols of imperialist oppression, but that's still obviously what he's trying to say.

  3. I’m pretty sure it’s a pun; the confederate flag literally has two lines that cross.
